Today's Treasure: "The Lord says: 'These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men'."- Isaiah 29:13
Many Christians don't live spirit-filled lives, instead they lead legalistic lives. God wants individual relationships with us, even if at times we cannot "feel" His presence as we stated we may feel sometimes. Regarding question one, I believe that legalism is knowing God's word but applies it without grace and mercy. God is showers us with grace and mercy, so clearly, this is something that we must do also.
Question 1:To the best of your understanding, what does legalism mean when used in a negative, religious context?
Question 2: How could a student of God's word squeeze the enjoyment out of her christian walk by replacing relationship with regulations?
