Hi my friends,
I enjoyed this reading and thought about my metaphor for life. I think life is a marathon. I value endurance and persistence. I always think about the long term. I may slow down, but I don't stop. This perspective has definitely been shaped by the bible. In Hebrews 12:1-2 it says "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith."

Rick Warren gives us three metaphors to think about. Life is a test, Life is a trust and life is a temporary assignment. I think that when we begin to embrace the ideas and metaphors the bible gives us, it provides a framework for looking at life and giving meaning to our expreinces.
